Come on. Come on. Come on. Lets Go.

Trina and I took a drive down to Charlottesville to meet with the person who will be making our rings. We decided to get something custom made since we will be wearing them for a long time and pretty much all the stuff that was out there didn't really fit us. Things are getting exciting as we are starting to get closer to finalizing our plans.

Sometimes during the season I will have to provide insight on games I don't see much of. Last week was one of those weeks. I accidentally saw the score of the Canes Pens game. Not much can get you to watch a 4 -1 drubbing. Saturday night my DVR decided that hockey was not it's first priority even though I told it that it was. Them's the breaks. So not much to say about the games sense I really did not see them. On to the statistics.

Stats of interest.
  • The hurricanes have 9 points of a possible 14 for around 64% of the possible points they could have attained.
  • The maximum number of points the Hurricanes can obtain now is 159.
  • The total number of goals allowed this season is 22 which yields an average of 3.1 goals a night. Little worse but below four at least.
  • The total number of goals scored is 22 which yields an average of 3.1 goals a night. They are kissing their sisters.

The Good Ole' Hockey Game.

Your Carolina Hurricanes update.

The bad:

  • Again the defense looked rough.
  • The power play was absent for the game, again.
The good:
  • Leighton stood on his head, Ward needs to look out or he will lose his job.
  • Another three points on the road never hurts.
Stats of interest.
  • The hurricanes have 7 points of a possible 10 for around 70% of the possible points they could have attained.
  • The maximum number of points the Hurricanes can obtain now is 161.
  • The total number of goals allowed this season is 15 which yields an average of 3 goals a night. Getting better.
  • The total number of goals scored is 17 which yields an average of 3.4 goals a night. Out pacing goals against so that is a plus in my book.

Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen. Hope You Enjoyed the Show. *

An eventful sports weekend will be topped off tonight as the Hurricanes are at San Jose.

I guess my sports analysis will begin with The Wolfpack's performance against Florida State. All in all I was not displeased. It was a loss but there have been and will be several of those this season. The team was in it until the very end and performed well against a more talented squad. The pack will provide a tough game for anyone in the coming seasons.

On to the fight sports. I was able to watch UFC 89 this morning and really enjoyed the show. The only thing I really learned is that Judo Terry is not all that good. I already knew that Lieben had a good chin and Bisping has good striking. Good card though and you can't beat the price ;)

OK Hurricanes time.

The bad:
  • The canes made a forced error in their zone that lead to an early goal. It looked terrible.
  • The power play was absent for the game.
The good:
  • Sutter looks like he might have been a real solid pick.
  • Another point on the road never hurts.
Stats of interest.
  • The hurricanes have 5 points of a possible 8 for around 62.5% of the possible points they could have attained.
  • The maximum number of points the Hurricanes can obtain now is 161.
  • The total number of goals allowed this season is 14 which yields an average of 3.5 a night. Still not so good.
  • The total number of goals scored is 14 which yields an average of 3.5 a night. Even with goals allowed so far.
Augie graduated from puppy class yesterday. It was a great day in class. Aguie is a handful and can be infuriating and fascinating all at the same time. He is a mess but I love the little Muppet.

I was a little frustrated because my camera disappeared from my laptop bag somewhere between Maryland and Georgia. Not sure if I misplaced it our it got lifted from my bag. It was the one thing I would not have noticed until we returned. I have a backup that I'm not a huge fan of but it will have to do until after I get married and buy a house.

Trina and I got a chance to run into town yesterday to remind ourselves that we do live in close proximity to our nations capital. It was fun and exhausting.

Till next post.

Murder By Numbers; One Two Three. *

It has been an eventful seven days. Wrote a song about it. Wanna hear it? Well her it go.

Wednesday:

Trina, Molly, Augie and myself spent most of the day on the road between Maryland and Suwanee, GA. We spent the evening munching on OK at best Kung-Pow Chicken and Chicken Lo Mien and rotating taking the dogs outside.
Trina and I were beat and retired early after watching an episode of the biggest loser.

Thursday:

Trina met my parents and my parents took Molly and Augie for the few days we were in Atlanta. All went well and we hightailed to the Courtyard Marriott at Cumberland center. After watching some football and eating a late dinner at Taco Mac it was time for some sleep again.

Friday:

It was a day of picking up tuxes and preparing for the big show scheduled for Saturday afternoon. We had lunch at Don Pablo with the combined might of the Morgan-Taylor clan. A quick stop at Borders and it was off to the pre-festivities tail gate. Bojangles was had by all and I still can not throw a football.

Saturday:

The big day. Dawn and Ed got hitched and I spent entirely to much time in an ill fitting tuxedo
(Insert Penguin noises here), pretended to sing a song I only knew the chorus to, spent time with friends I don't get to see nearly enough of, and praying the Hurricanes could sweep the state of Florida to cap off a brilliant day. Congrats to the bride and groom.

Sunday:

Barn stormed from 7 AM to 11:30 PM between Atlanta and Fortson, GA and then from Fortson, GA back to Maryland. It was good to be home.

On to other matters of less import. The Hurricanes have kicked off the season with a record of 2 -1 - 0.

A few observations based on what I saw against Detroit. As it stands, this team is going to finish better than it did last year. Staal looks like the monster he was drafted to be. The Defense held it's own against arguably the most talented and deepest team in the league. And we have a team of gamers out there and it will be fun to watch them fight through the season. I plan to enjoy it no matter what the end result.

Stats of interest

The hurricanes have 4 points of a possible 6 for around 67% of the possible points the could have attained.

The maximum number of points the Hurricanes can obtain now is 162.

The total number of goals allowed this season is 10 which yields an average of 3.3 a night. Not so good there.

The total number of goals scored is 11 which yields an average of 3.7 a night. So far so good.

Outside of the Hurricanes. I've seen a lot of vitriol and hyperbole associated with the death of Alexei Cherepanov. Death in and of itself is a tragic and inevitable event whether it happens at 18 or 108. We all owe a death no matter who we are. He had a bum ticker and his time was just up before most.
